In South Africa, firearms are categorised into four unit standards. The Legal Unit Standard is included in each and is a mandatory requirement for firearm ownership.

Each unit standard is delivered using the official International Training Academy manual — the accredited booklet used for both private and business-purpose training.
The full process — training, competency and licensing — typically takes between 4 and 12 months, depending on the completeness of your application and SAPS processing times.
1 full day at our facility. Classroom & practical shoot days: Mon, Fri, Sat. Certificate in 1–3 working days.
Apply at SAPS with your training certificate. In-person, fingerprints required. We assist with the process.
Once approved, apply for your firearm license with a detailed motivation and the firearm's serial number.
